Ronald Knapp, age 81, of Sidney, Nebraska, passed away at Sidney Regional Medical Center on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel in Sidney. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. A lunch will follow at the Gehrig-Stitt Event Center following the burial.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday, March 12th from 1:00-6:00 P.M. family will not be present. You may view Ronald’s Book of Memories, leave condolences, photos and stories at www.gehrigstittchapel.com.   

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Ronald’s care and funeral arrangements.

Ronnie was born on January 21, 1945, in Sidney, Nebraska to Ray Knapp and Alice (George) Knapp. He graduated from high school in Sunol, Nebraska in 1963 and spent most of his working life in heavy equipment. Ronnie also drove the Stagecoach bus for the City of Sidney and loved playing cards at the Community Center with all his friends.

Ronnie met the love of his life, Lorraine Sandoval and they were married on August 19, 1988. They shared a life rooted in faith, love and devotion to one another.

He is survived by his loving wife Lorraine Knapp, his son, Robert and wife Michele Sandoval of Denver, CO, granddaughter, Krystal Sandoval of Rapid City, SD.

He was also blessed with many great and great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members all of whom loved him dearly. Several family members will cherish being with him at the hospital prior to his passing.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Jackie Garcia, his parents, Ray Knapp and Alice Knapp; his siblings, Donna Sanford, Maxine Wilson, Kenneth Knapp and Shirley Henkle.
